Spring 2022 Season Info

Good evening parents, coaches,

I'm excited about the start of the Spring 2022 soccer season.  Thank you to everyone for getting your kids involved in our program.  An additional thank you to all the volunteer coaches. Without your help, there is no program.

A few housekeeping items (please note multiple sections pertain to you)...

Grade 2 and under:
First, season starts on April 9th.  Saturday schedules are as follows (all games at the transfer station):
- Grades 1 & 2: 8:15-9:30
- Kindergarten: 10:00-11:00
- Pre-K Girls: 10:00-11:00

- Pre-K Boys & Soccer Tots: 11:15-12:15
Beth Ortins, our In-Town Director, is working hard to put together teams.  She will be reaching out before April 9th with team assignments and field assignments.  Please remember, we are asking everyone to have their child arrive with a ball and shin-pads (soccer cleats are recommended, but optional).  If you have a uniform from the fall, please plan to reuse it.  If you are new to soccer this spring and therefore need a uniform, we will hand them out at the shed just before soccer on April 9th.

Grades 1, 2, 3, 4:
MYS will again be offering professional mid-week training for Grades 1, 2, 3 and 4.  This is a great chance to work with our friends from SkillzCheck to improve your child's fundamental soccer skills.  It is not mandatory practice, but certainly encouraged.   Bob Lee, who doubles as the MYS Registrar and Interface with SkillzCheck, will be sending out more information before April 9th, but for planning purposes, the schedule will be:
- Tuesdays 5:00-6:00pm, Grade 1/2 boys and girls
- Tuesdays 6:00-7:00pm, Grade 3/4 boys
- Wednesdays 5:00-6:00pm, Grade 1/2 boys and girls
- Wednesdays 6:00-7:00pm, Grade 3/4 girls
We expect to run this between April 9th and the end of the spring season.

Grades 3, 4:
For Grade 3/4 players, your coaches will likely elect to host a practice or two before the first game on April 9th (they will let you know).  Coaches, the fields are open.  If you have not yet reserved a practice time and would like to, please reach out to me.  Also, as a reminder, there is another Tri-Town pickup soccer session this Sunday at 3pm at the Topsfield Arena.  If you are looking for an extra hour of pre-season soccer, this is a great way to get warmed-up for the season.

All parents:
If you haven't already registered for the Rev's game and are thinking about it, I would encourage you to do so.  We're up over 120 people already.  It's going to be a really fun evening for the kids (and parents).  We also are planning to do some other fun local events this spring.  More to come...

All coaches:
I will be sending another email shortly with some additional logistics (equipment, pre-season meetings, field clean-up, etc.).  Please standby...

Finally, please reach out to me directly throughout the season with any questions, concerns, or feedback (good or bad).  See you out there in less than 2 weeks!

Thank you,
Matt Alexander, President MYS
